School MATRIX® Assessment

Using assessment data to make classroom instruction decisions is imperative to meeting NCLB requirements. School MATRIX Assessment is a complete online assessment system that manages, authors, and validates assessment processes while operating on a delivery platform that is fully integrated with School MATRIX SIS and other modules of School MATRIX.

Turn Test Data into Information Teachers can Use

Move standardized test scores (i.e., ITBS, SAT9, Terra Nova) quickly from the central office to the teacher's desktop to allow for immediate impact as data are viewed in the context of the entire instructional process allowing teachers to isolate and better understand specific performance problems. Empowered with information, teachers can more accurately target underlying processes that are producing poor performance results and re-structure instructional plans to effect change - change that works to improve test scores as alignment is achieved between what is tested and what is taught.

Another important assessment function - grouping students for specialized instruction - is easily accomplished with School MATRIX®. Using on-line student response data, teachers can quickly isolate groups of learners for re-teaching activities to effect reinforcement, enrichment, remediation and/or extension. Students can be managed within multiple sub-groups and easily moved between groups as instructionally indicated.

School MATRIX® Assessment provides teachers with the ability to build performance portfolios containing representative samples of student work - audio, video, and digital artifacts collected over the student's entire educational career. These data, when taken in context with other instructional information, provide teachers with an instructional history reflective of each student's learning experiences and provide an audit trail for quick reference by all stakeholders.

Improve the Way You Assess Students

School MATRIX® Assessment allows teachers to easily create, distribute, and evaluate assessments aligned to standards, designed for various grade levels, and produced for specific sub-groups. School MATRIX® Assessment provides teachers with the ability to use true false, multiple choice, short-answer, essay, and rubric questions in multi-media formats as part of any assessment. In support of the assessment process, School MATRIX® Assessment can effectively score, analyze and distribute performance information to all those with vested interest. Assessment data can be collected through the on-line student interface or as an off-line function.

Comply with No Child Left Behind (NCLB)

The best way in which to consistently meet the demands of NCLB is to understand the instructional and assessment processes that produce the results. Because School MATRIX® Assessment captures every decision made within the instructional design process and all the data from resultant assessments, it is easy to explore the relationships between instructional approaches and student performance. Because School MATRIX® Assessment collects data unobtrusively, continuously, and automatically as teachers plan, teach and assess, teachers can teach and students can learn!

School MATRIX® Assessment enables district staff to import test items that are correlated with the learning standards and frameworks, from multiple publishers and sources into a district-centric assessment item bank that is accessible by the teachers for integration with their lesson plans and learning assignments.

School MATRIX® Assessment allows teachers to automate the capture of student-centric assessment data by creating online assessment activities that immediately feed the database with specific student performance data on the assessment activity. These performance data are correlated with the learning standards so teachers and the assessment staff can benchmark the student's individual achievement against the state standards through ongoing formative assessment activity. Similarly, the district's assessment staff is able to create and assign benchmark assessments to any group of students. Finally, measurement specifications associated with high stakes assessments can be imported into this School MATRIX Module, ensuring education delivered to students is in alignment with expected state and federal benchmarking requirements.

School MATRIX® Assessment is fully integrated with other School MATRIX modules, leveraging the data captured from assessments to be used for student performance profiling and improved lesson planning and curriculum alignment.

School MATRIX® Assessment contains a powerful set of reports that allow all stakeholders to diagnose student performance against sets of targeted standards. Such diagnostic data empower teachers and other instructional staff to refine their teaching methodology and tools to align with the students' identified learning profile. School MATRIX® Assessment has customizable access rights and user interfaces for various stakeholders including teachers, principals, assessment management staff, superintendents, students and parents.
